Chapter 2: The Finals Month

Weekly Log as of July 21, 2025, Monday:

Last Monday, I had my first task as Secretary, which was to take down the minutes of the meeting for every board meeting from then on. During that day, I had also made the Director of Photography (DOP)’s revisions to my offline edit for TBD.

On Tuesday, we took photographs of a property in Sison (our car broke down in a very strategic location along the highway: a few seconds ahead of us was a vulcanizing shop and next to it was a very fragrant antique surplus shop.) During that day, I was also gathering officer data from our org .MOVE (where I was newly re-assigned as Assistant Video Head; I was very proud since I was no longer the Secretary or the Council of Organizations Representative and I can now focus on managerial work instead of executive work which matters more if I were to be President for next or next next tenure), which was due for re-accreditation the following week. Also, I took a walk with Ate Sheryl and the dogs outside and the breeze smelled like very fresh farmland.

On Wednesday, I went back to Makati for the screening of Totoy Matibay. After that, I met with my group for our other subject’s final project, TBD, and fully discussed the final final final revisions in detail, face-to-face. That day, I received a message from a friend who told me that they needed extra hands for a SineKabataan entry: When It Rained Malunggay Leaves (starring Ms. Gabby Padilla from Gitling and Ms. Tanya Gomez from Maaalala Mo Kaya?). The Art Department needed more set dressers for Cycle 2 this July 19-22 at Bayambang, Pangasinan. I told him I’ll think about it as I finish whatever work I have left (some of my groupmates from TBD are also participating in that project).

On Thursday, I met up with the DOP/Online Editor/VFX Artist of TBD to send the files through hard drive at Zentea. There, a couple of friends also met up with me since their class just finished and they were also busy with postproduction so we all worked there together for a few hours, having fun discussing our different projects and other topics in our personal lives. That night, I started the subtitles for Totoy Matibay and said yes to the Malunggay project.

On Friday, I continued the subtitles for Totoy Matibay at Zentea alone for almost the whole day. I met up with Aysie and Migui for dinner and then we all went to Aysie’s dorm. She did her thesis paper, consulting us for help from time to time, while I finalized the subtitles with Migui (actually the director for Totoy Matibay lol). I officially finished the subtitles (also two days’ work, similar to Tubong Barako!) later that night and then I went home and packed my stuff for pick-up in front of my dorm building.

Saturday was Day 0 of When It Rained Malunggay Leaves. I was dumbfounded after realizing that the crew was half-Mapuans, half-Benildeans, with a few students from PUP and FEU. It was a big project, and I also knew some of the non-Mapuan and senior Mapuan crew, either by name among friends or name in terms of reputation. I had fun working with them so far, especially the Art Department.

Sunday was Day 1, which means it’s the first day of actually rolling. Aside from just setting up the room layouts, I also had the opportunity to gently sway a malunggay branch behind Ms. Gabby as the shadow on the back of her head. Hehe. #corememory

Today is Monday. Malunggay Project D2. I now have to return to base. :))
